Write directly. There is no contact form, no published phone number, and no autoresponder. A letter or an email goes to Lawrence Millman, an author, ethnographer, and mycologist in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This site does not collect the message or keep a form database. Your own mail app sends it.
A message does not add you to the Bog mailing list. New writing goes out only if you subscribe on The Bog, which is hosted on Substack.
Who this is for
Hosts, editors, and readers use this page to ask about a date, a text, or a permission. Books lists the titles in print. Talks & Walks lists the lecture record and any dates already on the calendar. Standards states how a fungal walk is run: the life of the fungi, not a table of things to eat.
Press, rights, and short biographies are on the Partners & Press page, along with the one-sheet PDF. Use that page when you need a press clip, a short biography, or a note on the photographs before you write.

What to include
Name the event or book, a few dates that work, and where you are writing from. Say which desk you are writing from: a tourism department or regional office; a tour operator or expedition cruise; an institution, library, bookstore, or park; an editor or publisher; a press desk; or a reader booking a walk, reading, or lecture.
If you are asking about a visit, say whether it is a lecture, a reading and signing, a public fungal walk, or a lecture aboard an expedition cruise. The lecture record includes universities, museums, radio, and cruises in the Canadian Arctic, Svalbard, Greenland, and Siberia. Public walks include Fresh Pond Reservation in Cambridge, where he has kept a species list since 2005. Naming the kind of visit, and the place, is enough to start.
A fee for a talk or a walk is named in the reply. It is not listed on this page. When a fee is due, payment is on Talks & Walks, after he has named the amount.
For a press request, name the outlet, the deadline, and whether you need a comment, a photograph, or a review copy. For a permission, name the book or passage and where it would appear.
